Following the success of our March Free Wills Month, we are delighted to launch the October Make a Will Campaign at DJS Law — with the same community spirit, renewed purpose, and a sharper focus on the challenges facing families today.

A recent article in the Financial Times highlighted a sharp rise in estates being caught by inheritance tax (IHT). Key points included:
- Inheritance tax revenue reached a record £6.7bn in 2022–23
- 31,500 estates paid the tax — an increase of 13 per cent in a single year
- With frozen tax-free thresholds and rising property values, more families are being drawn into IHT without realising
- By 2029–30, 10% of estates are expected to be liable for inheritance tax, which is expected to raise £14bn for HM Treasury
These figures make one thing clear: doing nothing is now the real risk.

Leaving a gift or making a donation to Isabel Hospice allows your planning to support others at a difficult time in their lives.
As solicitors, these sessions also give us an opportunity to explain terms such as executor, beneficiary and residue — which are not always self-explanatory.
